Community development.
Hamia is one of thirteen parishes taking part in the Church and Community Mobilisation Programme (CCMP). The CCMP is a Bible-based, guided training approach that a local church can use with its community to identify the resources they have, then, working together, bring about long-lasting, whole-life change. As local communities work through the process, they decide which activities will bring about the most effective and positive outcomes for them given their current situations.
CCMP impacts.
Church members have successfully completed the new vicarage (shown below) - a project that started after the first phase of the training. Rebecka, the pastor's wife, put the training on climate-smart agriculture into practice, extending the land she cultivates to grow a wider variety of crops. The parish also learned how to set-up Savings Groups, and Abeli and Rebecka were able to take out a loan to pay for the remainder of their son's college fees, and Joseph graduated as a teacher in 2023. Joseph is one of the CCMP facilitators in the parish and now has a role as a Field Officer, based at Chemba, responsible for mobilizing and managing all the Savings Groups across the Diocese.
